Lucian Lanteri.
My work celebrates the everyday, focusing particularly on people’s relationship to the sea, and to the landscapes humans inhabit daily. I seek to positively uncover truths about human behaviour in ways that empower my subjects.
I am a portrait and documentary photographer based in London. I began my career in Melbourne as a wedding and portrait photographer, then subsequently travelled and relocated to London where I embarked on a career in the corporate world, distanced from photography. In 2019 I abandoned that life in order to re-calibrate the priorities in my life, which included refocusing on my first love of photography.
My photographs reveal the quieter in-between moments of everyday existence, exploring how spiritual and emotional moments can gently intrude in quotidian situations. I am focussed on moments of quiet reflection, insight, melancholy, loss and longing, and how these lead to personal insight, knowledge and redemption. I capture moments of solitude, reflection and contemplation. I believe in a positive view of humanity and people’s capacity to change and adapt to challenges. I celebrate the resilience of the human spirit and the inherent virtue and worth of individuals.
I am currently expanding my series exploring human interrelationships with the sea.
